I have two sons and a hubby (and honestly, my daughters would love this, too). My sons are all boy, and they have huge hearts. They love to be needed, work hard, and give to people. They have an amazing dad, too.
I'd love to win this for them.
Thanks for the chance to win! :)
I'll email you and then you have 4 business days to contact me or I will have to choose a runner-up winner... regulations and all! :)
Thanks to everyone for playing!
With the Bloggy Giveaways underway I wanted to take Shannon's suggestion of giving away something that represents my blog. Well, that would be boys. Three little ones as a matter of fact... and then there is the big boy that I take care of, too! Whichever way you look at it, Boys Rule My Life and I'm proud of it!I am giving away a brand spankin' new copy of The Original Boy's Handy Book written by the co-founder of the Boy Scouts of America. It contains loads of information that boys "should" know. In my opinion, some of it they shouldn't know... but I'm just the mom!
The book is divided into four sections, one for each season. Chapters include building a kite, tying knots, camping, aquariums, puppet making, homemade fishing tackle, and even a chapter on taxidermy (that's the one they don't need to know!)... just to name a few.
Here are the rules:
1. You must be a US citizen... sorry shipping rates are awful!
2. You must leave a comment on this post with some way for me to contact you if you win.
3. You do not need to have a blog to participate... I must be able to contact you though.
4. You have to work for this one a bit... in your comment, tell me about the boy(s) in your life that you'd be reading this book with or giving it to. It doesn't have to be long or involved, just something special about your little man/men. :)
5. The winner will not be chosen based on #4, but #4 must be included. (A little work never hurt!)
6. I will randomly draw for a winner on Saturday, February 2, 2008 at NOON CST.
For an obscene number of Bloggy Giveaways, head over to Rocks in My Dryer throughout the week!
I have FOUR boys plus a hubby...so this one caught my eye right away! My boys are 10, 7, 6 and 3. It's loud and we go through a lot of groceries. I LOVE it!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's a great book! I got it for my nephew last Christmas and was almost tempted to keep it and get him something else. LOL I've got 2 boys of my own. This is something I'd love to have for them.
ReplyDeleteI hate to post a comment this early on! I will never win! I have 3 boys who also rule my life. I need all the help I can get!
ReplyDeleteI never win anything.
Looks like a fun book. I have three boys (ages 7, 9, 14) plus my hubby...I'm sure they would all enjoy the book. Heck, my 11 yr. old daughter would probably even read it, she's a bit of a tomboy. Thanks for offering it.
ReplyDeleteI'm a busy SAHM of 4 boys ages 6,5,1 and 5 months. Life is crazy around here, but I wouldn't have it any other way. I love the inquisitive moments and the way their brilliant little minds work. It's a joy everyday to look at life through their gorgeous little eyes.....
ReplyDeleteYour boys are adorable! I have 1 boy, heading into the teenage years (and a beautiful girl too!)and am a proud Asst Scoutmaster for our Boy Scout Troop and would love to win this book for all my "boys" in the Troop! Thanks for the giveaway! Didn't know about this book and may buy it if I don't win!

ReplyDeleteI have two boys that I homeschool. They always keep me on my toes and are doing stuff that sometimes makes me cringe and cry, but then I remember that "Children are a blessing"
ReplyDeleteThis would be for my 3 yr old who is funny, clever and loud (not always in that order).
ReplyDeleteAlright, you know about the boys in my life. I would love this book. I have decided to home school Caedmon next year, so I think this book would be great for supplemental ideas. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, dearest, you already know that boys rule my life too!
ReplyDeleteMy husband is like "a worm in hot ashes" (to quote my mom!). Bascially, he can't sit still! He thinks we should all be constantly doing something, and maybe that little book will have some handy ideas of things to do with all of them.
Thanks for the contest - I need to get mine posted!

After 2 girls I finally have a grandson!!! And beleive me we need all the help we can get!
I have a ten year old who loves The Dangerous Book for Boys and I know he'd love this too. I love this classical type of book that encourages kids to be boys and not just hook up to a video game. Thanks for hosting!
ReplyDeleteMy son is such a hard worker. School doesn't come easy, but he does well, and it's because he works really hard. I'm so proud of him.
ReplyDeleteMy little man is 2 1/2 and already a real adventurer. He's curious and ornery, and loves to take things apart.

I would love this. I have a tiny boy that is overpowered by girls all day. I need it to help myself to teach him some boy stuff.
ReplyDeleteWell, I have 5 boys I'd be giving the book to. Well, it'd go on the coffee table and they would all read it, except Sam, but we'd read it to him. Drew is 18, but he loves stuff like that, Devon is 15 and super daring (skateboard off the roof? Sure! Eat something off the ground? Sure!) Cody is 12, and Sam is 1. But my biggest boy is 38, and he would LOVE the book!
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in your giveaway.

ReplyDeleteMy three year old son is the type that gets into everything. Yesterday he poured olive oil on my piano bench and last week it was vinegar into my bread machine. He needs some sort of creative outlet for his energy, but I don't know what.
ReplyDeleteMy boys are so much fun. My oldest is almost 14, and turning into a responsible young man. He'd love to find some new ideas to get into trouble. My little boy is 4, and loves CARS. We have fun making car noises.
ReplyDeleteI am always saying that I need to "boy up" my son a bit seeing as how he spends 99% of his time with myself and his 2 older sisters! Count me in please!

ReplyDeleteSeriously, what is not to love about little boys? I could eat my little guy up. :)
ReplyDeleteHe'd love the taxidermy part, he would love to go hunting and is screaming for joy when we see a dead deer on the roof rack of a car.
Okay, something interesting about him...when he grows up he wants to be a hockey player and a bull rider.
Please enter me. I have two wonderful boys and hubby....a houseful of males. They are all the best things in my life!

Hi, I would give this to my nephew who is in third grade. I think he could really benefit from this book! Thanks,Cindi
ReplyDeletejchoppes[at]hotmail[dot]com
This would be great for my 3 and 1 year olds. I've always been pretty much a girly girl. These 2 little boys are trying to change that. I need all the help I can get to keep up with them and their dad!
ReplyDeleteI actually have 2 girls, but I think those things you talked about are just as important for girls to know as well! My hubby and I find it very important that our girls be well-rounded and not stuck in the girl/boy stereotypes that our society casts upon them.
ReplyDeleteI actually have all girls--but I really like books like this to show them they can do that stuff, too!
ReplyDeleteThat would be perfect for my very boyish boy.
ReplyDeleteThis book would be perfect for my 8year old son. I grew up with sisters so having ideas of fun things to do with my son would be "handy".

ReplyDeleteYour giveaway sounds great. This book would be used for my son.

ReplyDeletefizzledink (at) gmail (dot) com
My boy is only six months old but I figure that gives me plenty of time to learn boy stuff. He's the happiest mama's boy around but I need some back-up so he doesn't get festooned in princess gear and forcefed Barbie videos by his big sis!
ReplyDeleteI would love to win this for my son. The poor guy is surrounded by 5 sisters. LOL :)
ReplyDeleteBoys...hmmm...I've got them coming at me from every direction in my house! I'm a mom to four boys, ages 5 and under...with baby #5 on the way...we don't know what it is yet. ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have 1 child...a 6year old boy! We cannot have any more children, and are not in a great financial postition to adopt. So, we are doing the best we can to raise our son as a single child. We homeschool because of my husbands health issues, and belong to a great church. We want our son to continue to be all boy and go out with his dad and do boy things. This would be a great book for us to teach him these things. Well, I didn't see me writing about this today. Anyway, count me in please! Thanks!

ReplyDeleteI could brag on my little man all day (my big man too!). The best part about him is that he gets the toilet paper holder out of the bathroom and uses it as a microphone while he plays his guitar. He is not even two yet. It is the most precious thing!! (You can see a picture of it on my site www.sew56.wordpress.com from an entry a few days ago!).

My 5 1/2 year old son is a thinker. He is thoughtful and pensive about every decision. My 2 1/2 year old is a dare devil. He climbes on everything and will call my name to let me see how big he is. When the two are together, they come up with some fantastic plans together. Tonight, they build a ladder and slide out of the snow instead of a snowman. They are amazing, and I cherish these days. When I'm not saying "get off your brother!!"

ReplyDeleteThey are good, well behaved, and cute, but man they have energy to spare. So we'd love the book.

ReplyDeleteI have 4 boys of my own...11, 9, 6, and 4. I have a baby girl, and it is my pet peeve when people say, 'oh you finally had your daughter, now you must be done" Well, we would have been just as happy with another boy! I think boys are sooo much fun. Thank goodness God gave me a bundle of them!
I have boy/girl twins and will be sharing things with them that are gendered and not. I hope to show them that they can do whatever they want even if it doesn't fall into society's perception of gender appropriate.

ReplyDeleteOf course, my 5 sons would highly appreciate this little book.
ReplyDeleteOh ~ how nice ~ I want to win. Please count me in.

ReplyDeleteThis would actually go to my best friend and her little boy who I am an Auntie to....thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm blessed to be able to live close to my grandson's who I have a jolly good time with. This book sounds to be right up our alley.
ReplyDeleteI have two boys and a girl. My boys are Jason, 6 years and Ben 3 years and both are extremely smart and fantastic problem solvers. I plan on both of them getting involved in the boy scouts as my husband and my dad were both scouts.

I would love to have this book for my boys! Noah is so very interested in everything, EVERYTHING. His brother, Michael, needs a bit of good, clean fun - too entertainment minded!
ReplyDeleteI have a little boy who's going on five soon, and he could use a little help in this department! He's got two sisters and tends to do what the girls do. He loves his cars, though, and is just a great kid. Thanks!

My son has just recently discovered that he likes to read. He is 7 and would love this book!
ReplyDeleteFinally a book that might help me understand my son. He's the 1st boy in our family for 15 years so I'm a bit clueless to alot of his behavior.
ReplyDeleteI have a (almost) 3 year old Bulldozer and a one year old giggling terror. After two girly-girls, I'm ready to explore the muddy, adventurous world of boys! Count me in!

I have two boys, ages 6 and 2. We are a homeschool family and love books. They are the lights of my life! Both of my boys love the rock group Queen and know all of their songs!
ReplyDeleteI always love to find other families with all boys. I feel so outnumbered at times. I have 3 boys and my hubby...I have to agree with the first commenter, my boys eat so much!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow lovely :) I'd share this with my little nephew :D

I have 2 beastly boys Superman (7) and T-Rex (3). They are all boy and then some, love to be outside, in the dirt soaking up the sun. I would just LOVE to bless them with this book, give them some wonderful things to do with their busy little hands and bring them and their amazing daddy together for some quality time. THanks!!
ReplyDeleteJOYfully in Him,
Kelli
I have one young boy and a hubby. My little guy is your typical boy - loves to rough house, cars, building things (and knocking them down!). I wouldn't trade him for the world.
ReplyDeletePlease enter me in your drawing. I would love to have this book ~ thank you so much!

The only boy in my life is my hubby. We have 2 girls but are hoping for a boy next. If I don't have a boy then I will give this book to my cousin's little boy. He is just so precious and all boy. Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI have 6 year old and 2 year olds boys who rule part of my life(I also have 2 girls). It seems this would be great for a homeschooler!
ReplyDeleteI have a 18 month old boy and hopefully more on the way, along with my two girls, he could use this later. My brothers had a older copy of this when we were growing up.

we've had three sons, but I think my dh would love this the most! what a neat book! :)
ReplyDeleteI have one son, and one husband, who both love to do "GUY" things, like hunting, fishing, playing basketball, etc.. Hubby got son "The Dangerous Book for Boys" last summer, and winning this book would be a great surprise for both of them.
ReplyDeleteI was a single mom for 10 years, so I praise God for a wonderful husband who is a real man, and is teaching our son to be a real man.

I have two sons and a hubby (and honestly, my daughters would love this, too). My sons are all boy, and they have huge hearts. They love to be needed, work hard, and give to people. They have an amazing dad, too.

Just had my first boy! COunt me in!
ReplyDeleteThis would be great for my nephew. He can learn mechanical and farm stuff from his daddy and grandpas but the boy scouty stuff is not so much what they do. And since both sets of grandparents are out in the country, he'll have the room to do all this stuff.
ReplyDeleteI coulda' sworn I entered this one, but evidently not...my little man is stuck in the middle of two sisters and in a house full of women. Sometimes he says he has to go see his grandpa for some "guy time".
ReplyDeleteI only have one little man (2 years to be exact) and I can't imagine having three!
ReplyDeletecount me in!
I would read this book with my 8 and 9 year old sons. Both are complete opposites of each other, but great in his own way. The 9 year old is somewhat nerdy, wears glasses, thinks girls have cooties, loves to watch TV and play with webkinz, and has the biggest heart of any child I've seen.
ReplyDeleteThe 8 year old is more independent, thinks girls are cute, and likes to play rough.

ReplyDeleteI have 2 boys (plus a husband) in my live. My older is the one who I would read the book with first. He is 5 and a outgoing, energetic little guy who loves all things outdoors.
ReplyDeleteI have just one little boy right now and he is such a joy - I'd love to have anything new to read to him - we go through books like crazy!

Would love this book!!!!
I have 3 boys(and 2 girls) and I would love to enjoy this book with them. My boys are 11,9 and 2.5 years old and they keep me on my toes! Thanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteAfter two girls, our two boys are special gifts. They are ages 3 and 5 and are soooo different from the girls, but tons of fun! They keep us young! :-)
ReplyDeleteI had a daughter and then didn't know what to expect when I had my son. What a blessing that little boy has been to me!!! I've learned that boys are every bit as precious as girls (and they sure do love their Mama!). I'd love to read this book to my little guy.
