Praying for a Wife

Each night before bed I read Will a story and we say a prayer. I always ask him if he wants to say the prayer and he says "no", so I ask what he would like to thank God for just to get his thinking juices flowing. Here is last night's conversation:

Me: What would you like to thank God for?

Will: My friends, my teacher, and Madelyn - that I will marry her.

Me: Honey, you have a long time before you need to decide who you will marry. You'll be at least 20 year old. (I hope!) You need to take your time and make sure she loves you and that she'll take good care of you. You also want her to love God.

Will: Mommy, will you go with me to school tomorrow so I don't forget?

Me: Forget what?

Will: To ask Madelyn if she loves God?

Me: You'll have to find that out for yourself. I promise you have a really long time to decide who you are going to marry...

Will: I've already decided; it's Madelyn. (Big smile)

So, anyway, we pray and I work her name in just in case she is the one that Will marries (you never know...) Sounds like a great time to teach him to start praying for his future wife, doesn't it!? :)

MUSIC

We've been absent from the Unplugged Projects for a few weeks and I really wanted to get back into them. This week was perfect and lots of fun! The challenge was: Music. At first I was saving things to make maracas and tambourines and drums, but then a much simpler idea came to me. Can you guess what it was?

I gathered different shapes and sizes of glasses and Will helped fill them up.

We lined the glasses up in front of the boys and gave them each a spoon. At first, I had to help guide Nathan to be gentle while striking the glass.

He got the hang of it and had a great time! (I should have washed his face before taking pictures... oh, well... the tacos were good.)

Will did a great job, too! The boys really had fun with this project and this is an easy one to repeat and clean up after... we'll be doing this one again!

We ended up with only one casualty - a broken glass from Nathan's line. The boys also thought it was fun to drink the water from the spoon. They'd dip the spoon into the water and slurp it up! :) We'll just pretend they were tuning the glasses!

Here's a video of their music:

First Haircut

Nathan is 28 months old and he's never had a hair cut. His hair is certainly taking it's own sweet time on filling in. This past weekend Jeff was shaving his head as usual and Nathan took an extra special interest in the clippers.

Jeff asked me if he could cut Nathan's hair, too. I told him yes, that I thought it was time to do the back, but to leave the top alone as it really isn't very long at all there. Here are the results...

BEFORE

AFTER

I think Jeff really did a great job on the back of his head.

THE PROCESS

THE PROBLEM
Nathan took over the clippers and gave himself an awful "gapped" head!

Oh, well, it will probably only take another two years before the next haircut... at least we'll be able to fix it for his Kindergarten pictures! Ha!
