Mother of BOYS

I wondered when this would happen. It has happened much sooner than I expected, actually.

Will and Nathan are at each other every moment they are together (when not zoned out in front of the tv, that is!). Nathan is aggravating Will; Will is bossing Nathan around. They hit and push and bicker and fuss! The whining and fighting is driving me bonkers!

I almost want to just send them outside and tell them to work it out for themselves!

That's all I have to say.

I just needed to vent.

AHHHHHHH!!!!!

Can't Find Your Cup?

Will (age 6) and Jeff (the hubs) were having a conversation about vehicles and engines. Will said something about things coming out of the exhaust pipe and Jeff (as his normal pun-ny self) said, "Yes, then they would think that we were exhausted."

Will was quiet for a minute and replied just as straight-faced and serious with, "Was that... a joke?"

I busted out laughing because it was such an innocent question and yet hilarious at the same time... maybe you just had to be there. :) Will is really trying to figure out jokes and some of the ones he comes up with are doozies that just don't make sense at all, but he laughs and laughs.

Nathan (age 3) was wanting a drink. As usual, the first question I ask is, "Where's you cup?"

He replied with, "Caa fu cup"

I thought he was saying, "Can't find cup," while he was digging through the cupboard looking for one. He said, "No! Caa fu cup."

I repeated, "You can't find your cup?"

Again, "NO! Caa fu cup."

This time I really listened and I repeated, "Careful cup?"

Nathan, "Uh huh huh." ... always a second huh. :)

So then I asked, "What is a careful cup?"

He reached further in the cupboard and pulled out a non-sippy topped cup!

Yes, Nathan, that is a careful cup... be careful while you drink from it!

*******

Another from Nathan that has been going on for a while: When he sees a tractor or a large truck, he says, "Papaw woo like." (Papaw would like!) Sometimes kids do know what they are talking about! :)

Witt (21 months) is "talking" up a storm. More words than I can list, but here are a few of the latest I can think of:

"how" - house

"mou" - mouse

"kaa" - cat

"baa" - box

"tuh" - truck

His most common words, however, are still "No!" and "Mine!" :) Bless his heart, with two older brothers he's learning to stick up for himself rather quickly!

"Aunt" Deborah Visits!!!

Our neighbor from Georgia, Deborah, came to visit for almost a full week! It was great to see her and the boys had a fantastic time! Jeff and I were given some much needed time together as she took care of the boys and let us go out on dates. Yes, plural... more than one date! :)

She arrived right before the boys went to bed last Thursday. After some dancing around, hugs, and kisses, the boys were in bed. Whew!

Friday night, she watched to boys while Jeff and I went out for dinner and a movie. We came home to some of the sweetest handmade Valentines on our mantel:

Saturday morning, Jeff and I set out again by ourselves. We hit a couple yard sales, Lowes, Home Depot, and a fun general merchandise store. We came home with a few extra things, but my favorite being these three metal Tonka trucks from a yard sale at only $2 each! I also scored a $1 waffle maker!

That afternoon, she gave Jeff and I $20 and treated us to another movie! When we got home, she grilled pork loin ribs on the grill for our supper. YUMMMMMMMMmmmmmmm!

The boys played happily outside:

Sunday night she and the boys danced while watching the original Cinderella:

These first pictures are really blurry, but I love the motion in them.

And this one is great because she's stopped for a breather while the boys are still whizzing around!

PYRAMID TIME!!

More dancing...

Witt stops for a covetous look at her Diet Dr. Pepper... LOL!

Monday night we roasted marshmallows and enjoyed smores! I made a huge "bar" of chocolate by melting some dairy free chocolate chips with a little DF margarine and spread it out on some wax paper to cool.

My battery died after that picture, so I have no sticky marshmallow faces to share, but trust me there were many more than just three sticky faces!

Her plans were to leave on Thursday morning, but her work load increased so much that she needed to return a day early. Wednesday afternoon after she had packed herself up and we said our teary goodbyes, she got in her car and started it up. Only it didn't stay on. It died. Over and over again... it died.

After many phone calls and trying to figure out what to do and where to go, a toe truck was called. Granted it was very stressful for her, but the boys were enthralled with what was going on outside!

Somehow the excitement just couldn't end there...

Later that night, Nathan walked into the room with such a bright cheery smile and the words,

"Nay cut hay wi surs!"

Let me interpret...

"Nathan cut hair with scissors!"

After asking many, many times where the scissors were, he lead us to our bathroom where we found this on the floor:

And this within little arms' reach:

And this is who I blamed (jk):

So, Jeff whipped out the vacuum and a better pair of clippers to clean up Nathan's hair. Watching him clip the boys' hair is very humourous. :) The best part though, is that all the hair is sucked up in the vacuum and there's no sweeping to do afterwards. It's our very own FlowBee! HAHAHAHA!

Jeff really did the best he could and the only way to clean it up perfectly would have been to shave his little head completely. Poor little Nathan, this was only the THIRD HAIRCUT in his whole life! His hair grows so slowly... it's gonna take forever for it to come back in!

Deborah finally did make it home on Thursday. Unfortunately she dropped her laptop while packing up and busted the monitor and motherboard. She's having a string of bad luck. I hope it's not us. I hope we're not her unlucky charms. I hope she'll come back. And I really hope things start going better for her!

We miss you already, Aunt Deborah!!!

This Picture Needs a Title

I love this picture of Nathan... not exactly sure why. I took it while we were at my in-law's house and he's standing next to a John Deere Tractor (his favorite thing in the whole wide world!).

I'm taking suggestions for a title and the "winner" gets some linky-love. :)
