Step 1: Family Rules

In working toward attitude adjustments, we've come up with some family rules so everyone knows what is expected of them. We've posted them in our living room for all to see:

FAMILY RULES

1. OBEY adults.

2. Be POLITE; use “Please” and “Thank You”.

3. Tell the TRUTH.

4. Be GENTLE with each other.

5. RESPECT each other’s “No”.

6. Toys out of your room are for SHARING.

7. Stay CALM; count to 10.

8. NO THROWING in the house.

9. Eat meals at the TABLE.

10. PRAY daily.

Grounded

It's been stressful around here lately. Three boys running wild, the sun coming up early, schedule changes, and attitude. Lots of attitude... and not just from Will. Me. I've been a grump. My body is holding so much stress from these summer days that you can probably see it radiating from me.

Last night, Jeff saw it because he told me to go out and buy some comfort food. He knew I'd be going for chocolate and he requested milk. Real milk. So, I took him up on his request and came back with:

Reese's Layered Cookies

Fudge Rounds
Two small jugs of milk

Now, I haven't had a sip of milk in almost 7 months. It actually wasn't all that flavorful to me and now I don't miss it so much. Which is good... the bad is that I'm worried what my stomach will do with all the new protein. I suppose there is a price to pay for being a glut. When/how did life get so stressful that I thought I needed to bring milk into my house?!!! (Click here for why we don't.)

So where does the title Grounded fit in here? Well, I'm grounding myself from blogging until I have an attitude adjustment. I'm going to spend time with my kids, my hubbs, and my house. I'm looking for a life overhaul right now and I need to focus on what I need to focus on.

I don't want this:

I want this (just with all smiling faces! LOL!):

Painting Breakfast

This week's Unplugged Project is Painting. I found this idea in The Toddler's Busy Book. Nothing is easier than on hand supplies and easy clean-up!

The paint is made from two tablespoons of milk (soy milk at my house) and about 4 drops of food coloring. (I don't have anything against red food coloring (although some do); we just didn't have any in the house.)

Using clean paintbrushes, the boys painted their toast!

Their finished masterpieces:

(Will asked me to cut off the crust before he ate it. I've found that if I cut off the crust he actually eats more of his bread than if I don't.)

Cleaning up after the project:

Check out more paintings at Unplug Your Kids and join us next week for Sticky.
