I noticed that you'd done the RAST test and wanted some clarification on that. I did the test and my son's casein and whey were negative but milk was 4. Like you said, I havn't a clue to what that means.
I wanted to know if you were asked to give traces of milk milk products before the rast test? or was he completely off the milk family. My son is completely off the milk family and as been so for almost two years now.
cheers,

Shobana Jayaraman (Srikumar)~

We were in strict avoidance of the entire dairy family and all derivatives (I used these lists:

http://www.godairyfree.org/Food-to-Eat/Food-Label-Info/Dairy-Ingredient-List.html).

We were not asked to give trace amounts of milk prior to the test and I really don't know why casein and whey would show negative on a test, but that milk would be a 4. How strange. That makes me wonder about the differences between raw milk and homogenized/pasteurized milk. I've read that some people don't have problems with raw milk that do have problems with processed milk. Granted, I'm not a doctor and we never tested it, but that's what I've read.

I would definitely follow up with your allergist and ask about what else in milk could be causing the allergic reaction. Whey and casein are the usually the main culprits. Hmmm... I'm really stumped.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
I would love to know what you find out from the allergist. Please stay in touch!
