Allergy Test Results 2009

Witt's annual allergy testing was today. Here's the shot of his back 20 minutes after administering the "scratch test".

Top Left: Negative Control

Top Right: Positive Control

Also tested for cow's milk, egg white, egg yolk, peanuts... but wait... I don't see any of those!

THAT'S BECAUSE THEY WERE ALL NEGATIVE!!!!!

Can you believe it? I am beside myself. I really haven't been able to wrap my mind around this yet. I'm totally amazed. God is SO GOOD!!!

The next step is a live trial. First "scratching" with actual milk and then a food challenge. If the scratching with actual milk produces a hive we would not continue to the food challenge. Luckily, someone in the office had milk with them, so we just used a bit of it, scratched him again and waited.

NOTHING!

NOTHING AT ALL!

We're blessed beyond measure!

The plan now is to go back Thursday morning to do the food challenge for milk. (They only do one food challenge at a time so we'll look into the eggs and peanuts later.)

He can't eat for 4 hours before the test and we bring our own whole milk. We will spend most of the morning there and they will administer small amounts orally working up to larger amounts over a period of time.

Even if there is a reaction on Thursday, at least we know that he no longer has the contact allergy like when he was younger. That improvement alone is wonderful! (Here is the picture of his back from the 2008 test for comparison.)

Thank you all for your support and prayers! Please continue to pray as we're not through yet. I appreciate you all so much!!

That's fantastic. What a great feeling you must have! Good luck with the challenge test. I think it's good you're doing at the doctor's office.

I'm so happy for you. I was stumbling through my bookmarks and had marked your post on food budget & allergies...a familiar problem for our family. I hope we will also get some good news one day.

I'm new to your site and don't know your son's whole allergy history, but wanted to share something with you. My daughter has been having severe stomach aches and nausea for 4 years now (yes, years!). We had her allergy tested twice in the past...once with the scratch test, and another time with a blood test. After many doctors, treatments, etc., we finally saw a doctor who referred us to a special type of allergy doctor who tests a different way than the majority of doctors out there. We live in Michigan, and there's only two that test this way. He tested her and found she's severely allergic to dairy. The reason it wasn't showing up before is because her reaction time is 12 hours later, and even then, she has kind of a "threshold" to dairy. She can sometimes tolerate some, and when her body has had enough she'll begin vomiting. At the doctor's office they gave the example of those big buckets at the water park filling with water. When they're full, they're going to tip over, which is exactly what her threshold is like. I hope your son's news is exactly what you think, but I'm telling everyone about this, as we received two allergy tests in the past that were false, including the blood test - only because her reaction time is so much later. Good luck with everything.

That's miraculous news! It gives me such hope! We have been trying NAET to get rid of my son's same allergies. They think he is almost clear of his egg now. I'm tracking our progress with it at goodbyeallergies.blogspot.com

I find myself in tears so many times when I'm holding my baby boy feeling like I'm in a losing battle every trip to the ER because of either food allergies or Asthma. We are finding new ones all of the time. He just had another anaphylactic reaction to something new and we still haven't figure out what it is. My prayers are with you! That is amazing news!
