Being Persistent

Our little Wittman goes for his annual allergy testing on December 1, 2008 [UPDATE: December 9, 2008] [Repost: Allergy testing for 2009: Dec 15th]. It's getting closer and yet it's still too far away. I am anxious to know if he is still allergic to milk and eggs.

I know I should be much more prayerful about this than I am. I know I should ask more people to pray for him - that these allergies would go away. I know I should bring up his name every time there is a prayer request offered in our Bible classes. I know I should put him on the prayer list for our congregations (and any others that would offer).

For some reason I haven't done these things... YET. Starting now, I am going to bring his name up for more prayers. I believe in prayer.

James 5:16
The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

I believe God can remove this allergy at any moment he choses... if He so chooses. However, even if His answer is, "No" or "Not yet," my faith in Him will not waiver.

What I'm asking of you is to say a prayer for Witt... RIGHT NOW. Please don't put it off; sadly, if you're like me, you'll probably forget later. So, please, take just a minute and ask God to remove this allergy before Witt has his tests. Pray that he will be allergy free. Pray for a healthy life for him.

Thank you for your prayers. I am going to put a countdown on my blog for those of you that visit and I hope that when you see it you'll say another prayer each day.

Luke 18

The Parable of the Persistent Widow
1Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2He said: "In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. 3And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, 'Grant me justice against my adversary.'

4"For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, 'Even though I don't fear God or care about men, 5yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won't eventually wear me out with her coming!' "

6And the Lord said, "Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?"

I know I'm not seeking justice, but I am seeking help and I do have faith. I want people persistently "knocking on God's door" asking Him to relieve Witt of this condition for the rest of his life.

1 Thessalonians 5:17

Pray without ceasing

I know what it's like to believe in prayer--but to get so used to the day to day of being sick that you don't even remember to pray anymore.

I'm praying for Witt--and for you, as well, that you would be able to pray and not lose heart.

I hope and pray that his allergy tests come back and that he's not allergic to milk and eggs anymore at least to the degree that he is.

May I add him to our community pray list? That would be over 300 people praying for him daily...

I want you to know that prayer does work, as silly as praying for an allergy sounds. My soon to be 2 year old daughter had a severe allergy to dairy and eggs. We prayed constantly for her and at her one year allergist appointment two weeks ago she tested negative to both foods on the skin test. The allergist followed that up with a blood test and it too came back negative. We are still praising God!

Thank you everyone for your prayers. I can't say how much it means to me!

But I must admit to you, my anonymous commenter, that I am very uplifted by your comment! I really was wondering how many children get negative test results at their first annual testing. That gives me even more hope and helps me continue with my prayer quest.

Thank you all soooooo much!!!

I am dealing with the same issues you are and it's hard! We took our son in 3.5 years ago to find out if his allergies were more extensive than we thought. We knew he was allergic to eggs, milk, lentils, peas and apples. Once we had the testing done we found out he was allergic to wheat, oats, barley, rice, potatoes, several beans, all thin skinned fruits, garlic, peanuts, soy....I think that covers it all.....I cried for days. We had to come to the place where we just decided to take him off of the things that we knew he had reactions to and peanuts since that can be deadly. I had no idea how to feed him. I was at a complete loss. I have prayed and begged the Lord to take his allergies away. I want to take him back in for more testing but it was painful for him and I hate to put him through it again. I need to be more faithful and persistent in my prayers. I do hope and pray that our Lord will heal our sons. I also have three boys and the middle one of the three now has allergies to raw carrots, raw celery, peas, and thin skinned fruits as well and we recently found out, accidentally, that our one year old son is very allergic to eggs....seems it will NEVER end, but it could always be worse!! My oldest child is a girl and she has NO allergies at all!!! Hang in there, you are a great mama and I am so thrilled to have found your blog! God bless!!
