Book Giveaway!!

I have always (mostly) been an avid reader. I added the mostly part because when my kids were very young I rarely read a book. Thankfully, I'm able to sneak some reading in these days!

Right now I probably have about 5 books started... two of which I read regularly. I have a shelf full of to-be-read books!

Once I joined Paperbackswap, my book shelf went from baby-help books to gardening, parenting and teaching, natural cleaners, help-meet books, nutritional books, etc. I have a wide variety of subjects to read now! I'm currently not much interested in fiction, although I have enjoyed my share of good fictional books in the past. I guess I just have the "learning bug" right now; there is such a world full of knowledge out there!

For this week's birthday giveaway,

I am offering 2 people a single book credit from Paperbackswap!

PaperBackSwap.com - Our online book club offers free books when you swap, trade, or exchange your used books with other book club members for free.

If you are already a member of PBS, I will just credit your account and you can pick your book at your leisure. If you are not a member, you have two options: 1) Become a member (which is free) so that I can credit your account or 2) Pick a book from the 3, 309,319 books that are currently available on their site within 10 days of the winners being announced.

Be sure that if you become a member that you use one of the highlighted links in this post. I'll receive a book credit for each new member that chooses to post 10 books to swap!

HOW TO WIN?

In the comments section of this post, please tell me the title of your favorite book and a little about why it's your favorite. You may list up to three different books - but be sure to list them as separate comments for a total of three entries.

You do not have to be a blogger to win; however, I believe PBS is limited to the US, so this giveaway will also be limited by that. You must also leave some way for me to contact you in your comments. I will not hunt you down to tell you that you won... sorry.

You have until NOON on Sunday, April 19, 2009 to enter. The winners will be announced next Monday along with another giveaway! You will have 2 days to respond before you forfeit your book.

(Sorry for all the "legal stuff")

Happy Birthday to me! (Please remember to de-lurk yourself here!)

The Twilight Series because it is a great fiction series and for once it has nothing to do with autism!

A Mary Heart in a Martha World because it is a great book about how to prioritize what you need to do and what God wants you to do for His Kingdom!

The Cider House Rules--it's just written so beautifully I love it!

Tell Me That You Love Me, Junie Moon by Marjorie Kellogg --because it's incredible!! It's so simple yet I found myself loving the story and all it's characters. Not your typical book. :D I loved that it was so different.

The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins--It's just amazing!!! It's basically the kiddie version of one of my other favorites, Battle Royale, except this one focused more on the love story part which I loved :D This book is about a post apocalyptic world in which kids 12-18 fight to the death, gruesome sounding I know, but it's not as detailed as Battle Royale (blood and gore galore). This one just has a nice balance to keep pretty much anyone interested. :D

I love the Great Gatsby for it's amazing writing, it's critique of a culture and look into 1920s America. Thanks for the giveaway! I'm a huge fan of PBS; I mailed 2 books off today actually. utgal2004[at]yahoo[dot]com

I really enjoy books by Jodi Picoult like The Pact. They're always on current, controversial issues and read very quickly. If I get in a reading rut I turn to her books to read a good story. Thanks. utgal2004[at]yahoo[dot]com

I really loved Snow Flower and the Secret Fan. I didn't know much about footbinding or what it was like to be a woman in china during that time before I read the book. Plus the story is so heartwrenching. It really fostered an interest in historical fiction. utgal2004[at]yahoo[dot]com

One of my favorite books, and one that has stayed on my mind for years, is The Prince of Tides by Pat Conroy. It is a haunting story that at times is an upsetting look at a family that has come unraveled, and yet at times is so poetic that it hurts your heart.
